You won’t want to miss Bob Mader (Dakota Bob) and the Business Men Blues Band Friday night, November 29th, at Mock Crest Tavern. The performance begins at 9 p.m. Dakota Bob has played for years, and well-recognized throughout the North and Midwest. Previously with a group in Washington, he later began playing with a Jazz band group from Portland. The group clicked and formed the band “Dakota Bob and the Business Men Blues”.

Members Include:

  1. Dakota Bob – Guitar and Harmonica
  2. Kdawg – Bass
  3. Johnny – Drums

Dakota Bob began his music career as Harmonica Bob, but after locating someone with the same name, he changed it to Dakota Bob. Not long after, he connected with other musicians and began learning Old Chicago Blues songs. He soon earned a reputation as a well-respected musician with the “Blues Cronies”.

Tracey Fordice and the 8-balls perform Saturday, November 30th, at 9:00 p.m. They’re recognized for their Rockin’ Blues, soulful ballads, covers and also original tunes.

Tracey Fordice, formerly known as Tracey Bunch, offers a unique and powerful voice. Tracey also plays the piano and offers her song-writing talents that blend a mix of creativity and depth to the blues community. She has performed in the Pacific NW for more than 40 years.

It’s almost Thanksgiving Day at Mock Crest Tavern! Known for their reputation of great food, they are here to serve you Turkey style. Mock Crest will open Thanksgiving day at 9 a.m.! Eric Vanderwall joins Mock Crest Tavern on Thursday, November 28th, and begins playing  at 8:30 p.m. What a great way to relax after Thanksgiving dinner and digest the turkey and pie.

Eric attended Oregon State University in 2009, and studied guitar with Neal Grandstaff.  While there he learned about different jazz styles and classical literature. During those years Eric also studied all the styles of solo guitar music, including lute music of the Renaissance, ragtime, fiddle tunes, blues and more. 

Eric continues to study, promising something new each performance. Eric currently resides in Portland, and performs all over the city  as well as travels to Salem, Newberg, Dundee, Independence, Corvallis and Monmouth. Bad Assets Return to Mock Crest Tavern

Mock Crest Tavern has some great music lined up for your weekend! Join Bad Assets Friday night, November 22, at 9:oo p.m.

Bad Assets brings their whiskey-soaked country rock band to the tavern and are from Portland, Oregon.

Members Include:

  • Ben Cosloy – lead guitar
  • Kevin Marcotte – bass and vocals
  • Drag Triplet – drums
  • Motor Jeffries – guitar, vocals

Motor Jeffries, the bands primary song writer, decided to write a collection of songs about the drive through Oregon on Interstate 84.

Enjoy the road trip with them through their music. The journey takes you from Stumptown, across the state line, towards the potato processing plants, stops by a bottom shelf liquor distillery, a washed out waterfall, rodeo country, and an abandoned cement factory.

One of Mock Crest Tavern’s favorites return to perform Saturday night, November 23rd, at 9 p.m. So come in and enjoy The Blueprints!


The Blueprints perform a mix of Americana/Blues and R&B.

Most Mock Crest regulars are familiar with Claes Almroth who plays in several other bands as well. His daughter, EmmaLee also performs in The Blueprints. Sharing her father’s love and talent for music they create a fun and unique blend of sound and vocals. She lends her talent to  lead vocals, back-up vocals, alto sax and percussion.

Open Mic with Bob Mader Thursday Night

openmic (1)Oh Snap! Mock Crest Tavern will host an open mic night and Dakota Bob Mader will kick it off! Tell all your friends, send them emails, Facebook and twitter or any other form of communication you use. The evening starts at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 21st so mark  your calendars!

Thanksgiving is next Thursday, November 28th. Mock Crest Tavern won’t only have their doors open for you, but they will offer a kick butt menu too. So if your away from home on business, need a change of scenery or just not interested in cooking, Mock Crest Tavern will take care of you just as they always do.  I’m all about someone taking care of me that day for sure! And, just in case you haven’t heard, their little kitchen prepares amazing food!!! You won’t leave disappointed. The menu will post soon so stay tuned.

Mock Crest Tavern is known for their $2.99 daily breakfast as well, so if you need some power food before you drive to meet family and friends, swing on by.

Are you ready to shop? Those holiday deals are showing up on-line everywhere we turn! Lots of crowds, lines flowing out of the stores and into the parking lots, umbrellas opening, horns honking, and no parking anywhere. I’m not sure how fun that sounds, but if you go and need a much deserved break, the doors are open until 2:30 a.m. Ask the staff about the daily special and drink special as well. They will get you full, relaxed, buttoned up and back on the road before you know it. It’s better than any band-aid for sure. That’s just one more reason people love Mock Crest Tavern, they care and take good care of you.
