Labor Day Weekend with Johnnie Ward…

Labor-Day-2013-HD-WallpaperGood gosh it’s Labor Day weekend!  Everyone is grabbing at the last weeks of sunshine and summer before school starts and new routines begin. Mock Crest Tavern’s outdoor full service seating is prime area to kick back and relax. After the crazy shopping lines, traffic and new school schedules don’t forget to take a break and have some fun. Speaking of great music,  Johnnie Ward & the Eagle Ridin’ Papas perform at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3rd.  They offer a true mix of  blues and rock music.

Johnnie, a native of Portland,  Oregon has performed with bands including the PH Phactor Jug Band, and opened for Moby Grape, The Grateful Dead, Pentangle, The Doors, and several other famous bands. Johnnie also played an integral part of the  movement that rekindled the blues venue in Portland in 1970, and was the first act to play The White Eagle, which was the first post-war Portland Blues club.

Members include:

  • Doug Marx – guitar, lead vocal
  • Johnnie Ward – guitar., vocal
  • Claes Almroth – harp, vocal;
  • Paul Bassett – washboard
  • Lauren Sheehan – mandolin
  • Bill Uhlig – Upright Bass

Johnnie often accompanies the group playing his harmonica and saxophone. Some of his tunes are available on myspace. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear some amazing blues music.
