Mock Crest Tavern welcomes Tevis Hodge Jr. Thursday, May 2nd.
Born in Virginia, Tevis grew up surrounded with music. He has played the blues for over ten years. He honors and holds to the traditions and techniques of the great musicians of the past for an authentic experience. He also intertwines his own flare and interpretations, placing himself among the many original blues musicians of the past 80 years.
Tevis Hodge Jr. now resides in Portland, Oregon, where he performs with various bands, and as a solo act in the Portland area and the North West. He’s performed with a number of artists including Vaudeville legend Baby Gramps, Folk giant Peter Yarrow, Joe McMurrian (winner of The Best Independent Blues Release) , Suburban Slim (three-time Muddy Award nominee), Lucy Hammond (top 5 on Roots Music Charts for Oregon) and Kevin Selfe (Muddy Award winner), to name a few.
The live music begins at 8 p.m. so grab your seat and a drink and join the fun.
Speaking of Suburban Slim, he returns to Mock Crest Tavern on Friday, May 3rd. He kicks off your weekend at 9:00 p.m.
Suburban Slim, a multi-award winning guitarist, singer and songwriter, recorded his first album at the age of 15. After touring Oregon, he later moved to Eugene, where he stayed for 15 years before relocating to Portland in search of a larger music scene. Not long after, he released three CD’s of original tunes.
Suburban Slim is available to hear on YouTube.
Just a reminder, there’s never a cover charge at the tavern! Check out their website for daily food and drink specials.
Have a great week, and we’ll see ya there!

Genna & Jesse help you through your week on Tuesday, April 30th at 8:00 p.m. They sing their original songs, as well as songs of their peers.
Genna and Jesse began performing together in 2009 when she hired Jesse to play piano in her band. While working together, their connection grew, and they decided to write and perform as a duo.
Genna Giacobassi is originally from Lansing, Michigan. Her parents, both musicians, surrounded and immersed her in music. She attended Interlochen Arts Academy High School, where she studied voice.
Jesse had developed a reputation and following for his anti-war anthem “Sons and Daughters” from Willie Nelson. He’s bought beer for Joe Strummer, broken Joan Baez’s guitar string, and been to jail with Daniel Ellsberg. Jesse has self-produced hundreds of tracks, and has preformed as close as Oakland and as far away as Cape Town, South Africa. He recorded his album, “Contents Under Pressure,” in his hometown of Philadelphia.
Genna & Jesse are currently touring the nation to promote their newest release, “Give and Take.”
Here’s some fun facts for the new subscribers. Do you know what year Mock Crest Tavern opened? Its doors opened in 1947 and it’s considered “The home of North Portland Blues”. Jon and Rainer took over in 2001 building it into what we love so much today. Focused on the community, and bringing everyone together for a great place to play poker, lottery machines, and entertainment, they pride themselves on the laid back, fun and friendly atmosphere.
Have a great week, and we’ll see ya there!

Speaking of future events, spring is moving in and Mock Crest Tavern’s patio and tables make a great way to soak up the sun and enjoy Portland’s great outdoors. In my opinion, the service outside gives MCT another edge over other bars.
