Johnnie was involved with the  movement that resurrected the blues venue in Portland in 1970. He was part of the first act to play The White Eagle, which was the first post-war Portland Blues club.

Members are:

  • Doug Marx – guitar, lead vocal
  • Johnnie Ward – guitar., vocal
  • Claes Almroth – harp, vocal;

  • Lauren Sheehan – mandolin
  • Bill Uhlig – Upright Bass

The group delivers a true blues sound often accompanied with Johnnie on harmonica and saxophone. Some of his tunes are available on myspace.

Let’s welcome The Roving Eyes on Thursday, March 7th at 8:00 p.m. This group brings their own twist to the 60’s/70’s influenced Rock’n’Roll.

Members Include:

Erik Olaf –  lead vocals/lead and rhythm guitar
Jerry Bennet – drums and vocals
Nathan Burke – vocals, bass/ lead guitar

When Erik and Jerry met, the two musicians realized they shared an appreciation for Rock’n’Roll. Since Erik had written several songs already, they agreed to begin with those.  However, they realized they were lacking a bass player, and not just any bass player, but one that they clicked with on every level. After several months, Nathan Burke joined the group bringing the bass guitar and vocals that they needed.  They began their jam sessions together, and not long after, they began playing gigs around the Portland area.
Included in the musicians that influenced “The Roving Eyes” are: The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Kinks, Hendrix,  Neil Young, The Rolling Stones, and other  classic rock and blues singers.
Have a great week, and we’ll see ya there!
