Sneakin’ Out returns Friday night at 9:00 p.m. so grab your seats early. This group is known for its acoustic and alternative sounds, and packing the house!
In 2003, David Gerow (mandolin), Don Henson (percussion) and Mike “Cheddar” Schmitt, (bass) lived in Howell, Michigan. After a turn of events, they returned to Oregon where Gerow and “Cheddar” began playing together again. The two played at gas stations, coffee houses, on buses and street corners. At times there was a fiddle, other times a guitar. Eventually, Henson joined as percussionist, and they named themselves Sneakin’ Out.
Sneakin’ Out has opened for famous singers including kd lang, John Jorgenson and Pink Martini. They also released their CD, “Train Wreck” that’s available to purchase on My Space. Other appearances include KOPBs LiveWire and KMHDs Home Grown. Check them out here.
SideStreet Reny performs at 9:00 Saturday, February 9th.
Reny and Bell have performed together for 17 years. They blend their bluesy/funky sound with pre-war blues, roots and folk music, old school Hip Hop, calypso and dance hall reggae.
- Reny (J. Renard Collette) – vocals, National steel resonator, bluesharp, keys, production and songs
- Lil’ Bell (Maribel Landaetta) – drums, washboard and vocals
Here’s what Carol Borrington from the Music Connection had to say:
“Once in a great long while, you happen upon an artist whose music is so honest and true that when you listen to it, you feel like you’ve come home. Sidestreet Reny is such a band of musicians and there is no risk of confusing them with anyone else on the music scene today. This duo almost defies category, and they have managed to forge their own sound and push musical boundaries in an era when many other musicians strive to sound the same.”
Visit Sidestreet Reny’s website before their performance.
Have a great week, and see ya there!
