David Brothers and Friends

Mock Crest has a fantastic line up this weekend, and to start it off, David Brothers and Friends perform on Thursday, January 31, at 8:00 p.m.

David Brothers

David Brothers

David Brothers, a critically acclaimed entertainer and composer, combines urban folk and blues giving it his own twist. He plays original material, and mixes it with elements from musicians who influenced him, including:

  • John Coltrane
  • Freddie King
  • Muddy Waters
  • Django Reinhart
  • John Fahey

David’s career began at the Thirsty Armadillo in Ft. Worth, Texas. And, while working at the Fort Worth music store, he gained inspiration from hanging out with Leon Rouche, voice of Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys, and Dave Milsap, and Delbert Mclinton’s, a guitarist.

David relocated to Portland Oregon, where he earned the Chistopher Mesi Memorial Scholarship from the Cascade Blues Association. He’s performed with some of the Pacific Northwest’s most elite musicians, including CBA Muddy Hall of Famers, Terry Robb and Robby Laws.

David’s album “Cornflakes and Gin” was released in 2009. He leads the David Brothers and Friends Band, performs solo, and also collaborates with other musicians. Stop by Myspace and catch a few of his songs before Thursday evening.

Here’s a few reviews concerning David:

…”Absolutely Beautiful Guitar Playing… A World Class Player”…
Portland Tribune

…”Guitar Playing is Masterful and Precise, song writing is brilliant.”…
Blues Notes Magazine

…”An Americana testament that would bring a smile to folk/bluegrass legend Doc Watson”…
New Haven Advocate

… “a top notch artist”…
Greg Johnson: President Cascade Blues Association

With reviews like that you won’t want to miss this performance.

Mock Crest still has a few Drink Decks, so grab one while you can. If you don’t like drinking alone, buy one for a friend too! Visit Drink Deck  for additional information.

Stay tuned for events for the rest of the weekend.

See ya there!
