It’s a packed week with fantastic music at Mock Crest Tavern. I hope you enjoy Gardeners Logic tonight. And to continue the events, Eric Vanderwall is returning to Mock Crest on Thursday, January 17th, at 8:30 p.m.
Eric attended Oregon State University in 2009, and studied guitar under Neal Grandstaff. There he learned about jazz styles and classical literature. During those years Eric studied all the styles of solo guitar music, including lute music of the Renaissance to ragtime to fiddle tunes to blues and more. Eric continues to study, promising something new each time to his listeners.
Eric currently resides in Portland, and performs all over the city as well as travels to Salem, Newberg, Dundee, Independence, Corvallis and Monmouth. Feel free to visit Eric at his website, and listen to some of his soothing music.
Also playing at MCT are the Adequates Friday evening at 9:00 p.m.
Their music includes songs from the 60′s, 70′s and 80′s. Stapleton’s vocals and guitar come through strong with songs from the Stones and Clash, among others.
- Don Henson on piano, drums and vocals
- Mike Cheddar offers his expertise on bass
- Peter Blowing on harp
The band contributes the Rolling Stones, Clash, Elvis Costello, Squeeze and Bruce Springsteen as their influences.
Saturday evening rolls up the live music, but not the fun! Johnnie Ward and the Sharkskin Revue begin at 9 p.m.
Their tunes cover the prohibition era swing bands through postwar jump blues and into the present. They include barrelhouse piano, sly jass, guitar boogie, New Orleans R&B and a wide variety of material from Ella Johnson, Howlin’ Wolf, and Thelonious Monk. Watch their performance on youtube.
Just a reminder, there’s never a cover charge at Mock Crest Tavern. Enjoy free poker on Monday nights at 7 p.m. and check out the daily specials.
See ya there!
