8879929-new-year-2013If you missed The Chancers on Thanksgiving, no worries, their bringing in the New Year at Mock Crest Tavern!  The party and countdown kick off at 9:00 p.m.

The Chancers bring a  blend of their unique sound to 80’s hits, traditional Irish ballads, hackneyed paddy-whack tunes and polkas. Their influences include performers such as Benny O’Conner of the esteemed Galway ceili band ‘Shaskeen’ , Neil Diamond, Shane McGowan and Morrissey.

The band members include:

  1. Felim Egan on accordion
  2. Paddy Schutte on banjo
  3. Tim Cornell on fiddle, mandolin and guitar
  4.  Model Sean Connolly as front man

With their folk/Celtic Rock and Irish traditional sounds you won’t want to miss this group as we kick off 2013. Visit them at Reverbnation to hear their tunes.

Mock Crest Tavern will also celebrate New Year’s Day with Johnnie Ward & the Eagle Ridin’ Papas. They’ll kick off the evening at 8:30 p.m.

Johnnie brings a rich history and incredible talent to the stage. He’s shared stages with bands including the PH Phactor Jug Band, and opened for Moby Grape, The Grateful Dead, Pentangle, and The Doors. In 1970, Johnnie participated in the  movement that resurrected the blues venue in Portland. The Fly-by-Night Jass Band was the first act to play The White Eagle, which was the first post-war Portland Blues club.

You can listen to some tunes on myspace. Don’t miss this opportunity for some great music!

Remember that the “Happy Hour” menu is available from 3-6 p.m. or wrap up the evening with additional “Happy Hour” times of 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. And of course, don’t forget to ask what the drink special is.

See ya there!
