Johnnie Ward and the Eagle Ridin’ Papas and David Brothers

And…they’re back! Johnnie Ward and the Eagle Ridin’ Papas are playing at Mock Crest Tavern on October 2nd at 8:30 p.m.

For those of you new to the blog and Mock Crest, Johnnie Ward has opened for big names including the Moby Grape, The Grateful Dead, Pentangle and The Doors. That’s enough to have you cancelling previous plans or calling your friends to join you at the tavern.

Johnnie and the Papas bring true blues music to their audience, along with his harmonica and saxophone. Listen to his tunes on myspace.

Mock Crest has a fantastic line up for the rest of the week including David Brothers on Thursday, October 4th at 8:30 p.m.

David is a critically acclaimed entertainer and composer. He combines urban folk and blues and plays original material. David attributes his sound to John Coltrane, Freddie King, Muddy Waters, Django Reinhart, and John Fahey.

I can’t believe October is here already. The year has flown by, and the rain will present itself soon enough. A stiff drink, music, awesome food, and a good game of poker make those evenings better. Not to mention Mock Crest’s awesome staff. If you look closely at the photo, you’ll see one of my favorites, the Blue Burger! Does anyone have recommendations for my next visit?

Also, stay tuned for the Mock Crest Tavern giveaway!

  1. LOL. If you look not so closely at the photo you’ll see me, Rainer, 12 years younger behind the bar. Even thought I’m not working behind the bar now (those days I was “between” jobs) we still serve the blues burger. Cheers.
