Claes began his music training at an early age which included clarinet, school choir, and piano lessons. In high school he picked up the harmonica due to having a love for the blues.
After growing up in the bay area, Claes relocated to Oregon in the mid-seventies. He’s continued playing in any number of bands and performs approximately 10 to 15 shows per month. He sings lead and harmony vocals; plays the keyboard, and harmonica, as well as writes and records his music. Some of the bands he plays with include: The Blueprints, Claes and Sons, Reverb Brothers, and The New Iberians. He also plays with Johnny Ward and the Papas occasionally.
Several of his tunes with various bands are available to hear on myspace.
